You can locate the time entry form in any of these ways:
- The Add time entry button that is always available on the toolbar.
- Client properties > Fees > Work in progress > Actions > Add time entry.
- Time and billing > Process timesheets > Add time entry.
- Time and billing > Billing items > Actions > Add time entry.
This form allows you to record time-based activities. These activities may be for a specific client or be a non-billable activity not pertaining to a specific client.

Navigating the form
The following tables provide descriptions for the controls in this form.

Accept |
Accepts the submitted time entry. |

Rejects the submitted time entry. |

Fields

From date |
The effective date of the time entry. |

To date |
Entering a date in this field will allow you to specify a range of dates for the time entry. When provided, you will be able to see entries across a span of dates on the My timesheet calendar. |

Quantity (Hours / Units) |
The number of hours / units that the client will be billed for this activity. |
|
Employee |
The name of the employee that submitted the time entry. By default, the current user will be selected. |
|
Rate |
The rate assigned to the activity / fee. |
|
Client/ Prospect |
The name of the client this time entry is for. If you are currently working with a client, that will be offered as a default. |
|
Total |
The total cost calculated. This is a calculated field based on the Quantity multiplied by the Rate. |
|
Matter |
Select the matter that the charge applies to. Only matters belonging to the client are presented. A default value can be specified for each employee - refer to employee properties. |

Activity |
The type of activity (fee) taking place for the time entry. A default value can be specified for each employee. For more information, refer to employee properties. |

Business unit |
Type the name of the default business unit, or select it from the pick list. |
|
Currency |
The currency to be used for billing this time entry. |
|
Billable? |
Whether or not the time entry is considered billable to the client, or just a record of time spent. |
|
Amount to bill |
The actual amount to charge the client for this charge. This field is not available when a new charge is entered but only when the billing administrator reviews the charges prior to invoicing the client. |
|
Adjustment |
The difference between the Total amount and the Amount to bill. This field is not available when a new charge is entered but only populated if the billing administrator reviews and makes and increase/decrease prior to invoicing the client. |

Invoice description |
When an activity is selected, the default description is supplied. If permitted, you may edit this to be more specific. It is this text that will eventually print on the client invoice. |

Invoice narrative |
A summary of the invoice to appear on the client invoices. If permitted, you may edit this to be more specific It is this text that will eventually print on the client invoice. |
|
Internal comments |
Type any additional comments required for this time entry. These comments will not print on the client invoices. |
